ABOUT US.

ABOUT US.

We unite military veterans in fighting for a new purpose: dignity and human rights.  Our mission is to bring to affect a world where basic human rights are respected and guaranteed to everyone.

HOW WE OPERATE

We are a grass-roots collective made up of city-based teams. We engage the public about issues, work to hold government leaders accountable, and stand up projects to care for our most marginalized communities and rally the resources required to support them.

WHAT ARE HUMAN RIGHTS

Human rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person throughout the world from birth until death–regardless of race, sex, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, or any other status. They are the pre-condition of a just society. They transcend political ideologies, keep us safe, and allow us to thrive as individuals and communities.

We look to the human rights declared in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights as a basic standard to hold countries to that are not fortunate enough to have constitutional laws that protect the basic rights and freedoms of the people. In countries where human rights are protected by law, such as “The Bill of Rights” in the United States, it is those rights we work to uphold.

In a time when democracy is in decline and trust has been lost in our most critical institutions, we focus on initiatives that ensure the survival of our most fundamental human rights: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Press, Freedom to Assemble, Right to Privacy, Right to Due Process, and Right to Security of Person.

WHY NOW

Our most fundamental human rights are under assault now more than ever.

The consolidation of news media, ever-growing censorship and control of information, and creation of propaganda by governments and corporations have made it difficult for the general population to even become aware of the key issues affecting us.

Freedom House, a leading think tank that ranks countries by the level of freedom their citizens enjoy named its 2021 report “Democracy under Siege”, citing fifteen years of continued decline in freedoms for both “democratic” countries and those ruled by totalitarian regimes.

WHY MILITARY VETERANS

We view military veterans as our strongest civic assets. Those who have served in the military understand first-hand the importance of basic freedoms and the checks that must exist to preserve our way of life.

Whether the mission is to gather signatures for a bill or to provide critical medical support to those in need, military veterans understand “mission first” and embody a proven spirit of volunteerism like no other civic group.
